Suzy-Ann Baker, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

FOUNDER

I’m a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 12 years of experience working in healthcare, caring for patients across different stages of life and a wide range of health needs. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong focus on prevention and long-term wellness, not just treating symptoms as they appear.

I created Obsidian because I wanted to build something more intentional, a space that offers thoughtful, preventive, whole-person metabolic care. My approach goes beyond quick fixes and instead looks at the full picture of a person’s health, including lifestyle, habits, and underlying factors that often get overlooked.

My vision is to provide a trusted destination where adults feel supported and understood while working on their metabolic health. I want care that is rooted in solid medical knowledge, but also delivered in a way that feels personal, compassionate, and easy to engage with.

Ultimately, my focus is on helping people achieve lasting wellness, building healthier foundations that they can maintain over time, not just short-term results.

What Makes Obsidian Different

A clinical, whole-person model with measurable outcomes and a premium support experience.

  • Not a medication-only or med spa weight-loss model
  • Care begins with a comprehensive metabolic assessment
  • Treatment includes lifestyle, nutrition, movement, behavioral education, and medication when appropriate
  • Progress is monitored through cardiometabolic markers and daily behavior outcomes
  • Referrals are used when patients need specialty support beyond the practice scope

What Makes Obsidian Different

Obsidian Integrative Health & Wellness offers a more personalized approach to metabolic care by combining clinical expertise, comprehensive lab review, body composition data, metabolic testing, and ongoing lifestyle support.

Through our partnership with Fitnescity Health, patients may have access to advanced testing such as DEXA body composition scans and Resting Metabolic Rate testing. DEXA can provide detailed insight into fat mass, lean mass, regional body fat distribution, and bone-related measurements, while RMR testing measures how many calories the body burns at rest.

This allows us to move beyond weight and BMI alone. We look at the full metabolic picture, including labs, body composition, lifestyle patterns, medications, sleep, stress, and long term health risk.

What Makes Obsidian Different

Obsidian Integrative Health & Wellness offers a personalized approach to metabolic care that combines clinical expertise, lab review, lifestyle support, and ongoing monitoring. When appropriate, additional testing such as body composition analysis or resting metabolic rate testing may be recommended through partner testing locations. These tools can provide helpful insight into body composition, metabolic patterns, and progress over time.

Our goal is to help patients move beyond weight alone and better understand the full picture, including labs, lifestyle patterns, medications, sleep, stress, and long-term cardiometabolic risk.

ABOUT OBSIDIAN

The Story Behind the Practice

Obsidian Integrative  Health & Wellness was created from both clinical experience and personal conviction.

A Personal Why

After years of caring for patients with chronic disease, metabolic concerns, and complex health challenges, I saw how often people were given fragmented care instead of  the time, education, and support they needed.

This practice is also deeply personal. My mother's health journey shaped the way I think about prevention, education, and listening closely to what patients are experiencing.

Obsidian was built to offer the kind of thoughtful, whole-person metabolic care, that helps patients feel seen, informed, and supported before health concerns become harder to manage.

What We Look Beyond

Instead of only focusing on weight or BMI, Obsidian looks at the deeper patterns that may be affecting your metabolic health.

  • Appetite and fullness patterns
  • Insulin resistance and blood sugar trends
  • Body composition and metabolic testing
  • Medication and medical history contributors
  • Sleep, stress, and recovery
  • Movement capacity and pain barriers
  • Family history, culture, and lifestyle environment

What We Track Over Time

  • Weight and waist circumference trends
  • Body composition and metabolic progress
  • Lab markers and symptom changes
  • Medication response and tolerability
  • Nutrition quality, patterns, and consistency
  • When additional support or referral is appropriate
