Getting Started
What is the first step to becoming a patient?
- Start with a Comprehensive Metabolic Health Assessment. This visit helps us review your health history, symptoms, medications, goals, lifestyle patterns, and metabolic concerns before recommending next steps.
Do I need the Comprehensive Metabolic Health Assessment first?
- Yes. Every new patient begins with this assessment so your care plan, testing recommendations, program options, and medication discussions are individualized and clinically appropriate.
What concerns does Obsidian help with?
- Obsidian focuses on metabolic health concerns such as weight-related concerns, insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes support, cardiometabolic risk, high cholesterol, elevated triglycerides, PMOS-related metabolic concerns, fatty liver risk, and abnormal metabolic labs.
-
Programs & Follow-Up
What happens after my first assessment?
- After your assessment, we discuss appropriate next steps. This may include lab review, nutrition and lifestyle planning, medication evaluation when clinically appropriate, body composition testing, follow-up visits, or one of our structured programs.
What support options are available after the assessment?
- Patients may choose ongoing support through a monthly care membership, a 12-week program, or a 6-month program depending on goals, clinical needs, and desired level of support.
Can I book a program without the initial assessment?
- No. Programs are recommended after the Comprehensive Metabolic Health Assessment so your care plan is personalized and clinically appropriate.
-
Labs & Testing
Are labs included in the program cost?
- No. Labs and outside testing are typically billed separately by the lab, testing partner, or service provider unless specifically stated.
What labs might be reviewed?
- Depending on your history and goals, we may review markers such as A1C, fasting glucose, insulin trends when appropriate, cholesterol, triglycerides, liver function, kidney function, thyroid markers when appropriate, inflammatory markers when appropriate, and other clinically relevant labs.
Do you offer body composition or metabolic testing?
- Body composition testing, DEXA, resting metabolic rate testing, or other advanced testing may be recommended when appropriate. Some testing may be completed through outside partner locations or vendors.
-
Medication Support
Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications?
- Medication may be considered when clinically appropriate, but it is not guaranteed. Medication decisions are individualized and based on health history, labs, risks, contraindications, goals, access, availability, and patient-specific needs.
Are compounded medications used?
- FDA-approved medications are preferred when clinically appropriate and accessible. In limited situations, a compounded medication may be considered when the clinician determines it is appropriate for an individual patient’s clinical needs. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not represented as equivalent to FDA-approved medications.
Does Obsidian use certified pharmacy partners?
- When compounded medications are used, Obsidian works only with appropriately licensed pharmacy partners that are LegitScript-certified, NABP-accredited, or accredited by another recognized pharmacy accreditation body, as applicable.

Is Obsidian telehealth-based?

Do you accept insurance?

Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
- Patients may be able to use HSA or FSA funds depending on their plan rules. Patients should confirm eligibility with their HSA/FSA administrator.
How is my information handled?

Is this for emergencies?
