MEDICATION EVALUATION & SUPPORT
Medication support when clinically appropriate, as part of a broader metabolic care plan
At Obsidian Integrative Health & Wellness, medication may be considered as one part of a broader metabolic care plan. We review your health history, labs, symptoms, weight patterns, current medications, treatment goals, risks, contraindications, and lifestyle factors before discussing medication options. Medication is not the only focus. Care begins with assessment, education, nutrition and lifestyle planning, monitoring, and follow-up support.
Why Medication Evaluation Matters
Weight, blood sugar, appetite, insulin resistance, cholesterol, and cardiometabolic risk can be influenced by many factors, including health conditions, medications, lifestyle patterns, sleep, family history, and genetics.
Prescription medication may be appropriate for some patients, but it should be considered carefully and used as part of a broader care plan. At Obsidian, we take time to determine whether medication support makes sense for your body, your goals, and your medical situation.
.
What This May Include
Patients may seek medication evaluation or support for
Patients may seek medication evaluation or support for: weight-related metabolic concerns; obesity or overweight with related health risks; insulin resistance or prediabetes; type 2 diabetes support; Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) related metabolic concerns; appetite, cravings, or reduced satiety; medication-associated weight changes; questions about medication options; medication side effects, tolerance, or response; and long-term support with weight maintenance and metabolic health.
Medication Options May Vary
Medication options depend on your health history, labs, goals, risks, contraindications, medication availability, insurance coverage, and clinical need. When clinically appropriate, we may discuss FDA-approved medication options for metabolic health, obesity, diabetes, or related cardiometabolic concerns. Medication decisions are individualized and reviewed in the context of your full care plan.

We Are Not a “Medication-Only” Clinic
Medication can be a helpful tool, but it does not replace clinical care, lifestyle planning, metabolic monitoring, education, or follow-up.
At Obsidian, we focus on the full picture: why weight or metabolic changes may be happening; whether medication is appropriate and safe; how your body is responding; whether labs, symptoms, or side effects need closer monitoring; and how to support long-term metabolic health beyond the prescription.
Medication Evaluation & Support is not a guarantee that medication will be prescribed. If medication is not appropriate, we may recommend labs, lifestyle planning, specialist follow-up, care coordination, or another evaluation before medication is considered.
Real Care Goes Beyond Medication
Thoughtful evaluation. Careful monitoring. Clear education
GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 medications may affect appetite, fullness, glucose regulation, and weight. These medications are not appropriate for everyone, and they require individualized evaluation, education, and monitoring.
Obsidian may help patients understand:
- Whether they may be a candidate
- Potential benefits and limitations
- Common side effects and safety considerations
- Lab and symptom monitoring needs
- Medication access and affordability concerns
- How nutrition, hydration, protein intake, strength preservation, and follow-up fit into the plan

Medication Evaluation & Support is not a guarantee that medication will be prescribed. A prescription may not be appropriate if there are safety concerns, contraindications, incomplete information, medication access issues, or if another evaluation is needed first. In some cases, we may recommend labs, lifestyle planning, specialist follow-up, or coordination with your existing healthcare team before medication is considered.
Important Note About Unapproved GLP-1 Medications
Obsidian prioritizes patient safety, clinical appropriateness, and transparent medication counseling. FDA-approved medications are preferred when clinically appropriate and accessible. In limited situations, a compounded medication may be considered when appropriate for an individual patient’s clinical needs. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not represented as equivalent to FDA-approved medications. When compounded medications are used, Obsidian works only with appropriately licensed pharmacy partners that are LegitScript-certified or accredited by another recognized pharmacy accreditation body, as applicable.
